Total amount of atmospheric ozone and its vertical distribution, Belsk 1995
Series: (D-46), 1996, pp.3-18
Abstract:
Ozone observations have been made by means of Dobson spectrophotometer No. 84 in the Geophysical Observatory at Belsk since March 1963. This publication presents all total ozone values and vertical distribution of ozone over Belsk in 1995 obtained from the conventional Umkehr observations.
Vertical distributions of ozone from Umkehr observations have been evaluated by the World Ozone Data Centre, Atmospheric Environment Service, Downsview Ontario, Canada. Vertical distributions of ozone as well as daily values of total ozone are also published by the Atmospheric Environment Service of Canada in cooperation with the WMO (Ozone Data for the World).
Total ozone, sulfur dioxide and UV-B radiation measurements with the Brewer spectrophotometer no. 64 at Belsk, Poland
Series: (D-46), 1996, pp.19-30
Abstract:
The Brewer spectrophotometer No. 64 has been installed in the Geophysical Observatory of the Polish Academy of Sciences at Belsk in February 1991.
The Brewer spectrophotometer is an optical instrument which measures atmospheric ozone and sulfur dioxide by examining intensities of the attenuated incident solar ultraviolet radiation at five specific wavelengths. The automatic, computer-controlled operation of the instrument allows different types of measurements and calibrations to be made according to an adjustable schedule. The instrument is capable of taking direct sun, zenith sky, UV-B and Umkehr measurements in unattended operation for several days.
Measurements of tropospheric ozone and sulfur dioxide at Belsk, Poland
Series: (D-46), 1996, pp.31-40
Abstract:
Measurements of surface ozone at Belsk have been carried out since August 1991. Ozone is measured by ultraviolet absorption instrument (Monitor Labs ML 8810). Sulfur dioxide measurements with Monitor Labs ML 9850 instrument have been made since 1994.

Spectral atmospheric turbidity indices for Belsk 1995
Series: (D-46), 1996, pp.49-80
Abstract:
Measurements of solar radiation were performed by means of a Sonntag pyrheliometer no. 03/82 with a Slandi MUC 2045 microvoltmeter no. 2283. Differences between measurements through different filters were used to obtain fluxes in eight spectral intervals and to calculate the mean (for n measurement series) values of the Linke turbidity factor, atmospheric transparency and aerosol optical depth.
Total ozone measurements from Belsk, Poland: Comparison of the Dobson data with those from version 7 TOMS in 1978-1993
Series: (D-46), 1996, pp.81-88
Abstract:
Total ozone measurements taken by means of the Dobson instrument No. 84 at Belsk, Poland, were compared with the total ozone data from Version 7 TOMS in the period 1978-1993. The mean difference of 4573 daily ozone means as obtained from both data sources is -0.06%, the standard deviation being 3.54%. The greatest values of the differences between the TOMS and Dobson 84 data are observed in November, December and January when the Dobson ozone measurements at Belsk are less accurate because of the lowest Sun elevations. The monthly means of daily differences between the TOMS and Dobson 84 data show no statistically significant drift of the data with time. A comparison between the ozone trend estimates for Belsk using the TOMS and Dobson data in the period January 1979 through December 1992 indicate that independently of the season the trends are in very good agreement with those previously published.
Total ozone distribution over Poland from version 7 TOMS data (1978-1993)
Series: (D-46), 1996, pp.89-96
Abstract:
The total ozone distribution (TOD) over Poland is inferred from the new Version 7 TOMS (Total Ozone Mapping Spectrophotometer) data. The data used consist of the monthly means of total ozone in the period October 1978 through April 1993 for 80 grid cells of 1°×1.25° (latitude × longitude) covering the area of Poland. The monthly means of the TOMS total ozone from the TOMS overpassed over Belsk are taken as the total ozone reference values for the TOD over Poland. The seasonal variations of TOD have been found, i.e., roughly speaking, the total ozone isolines are along the meridians in the winter but perpendicular to the meridians in the early spring (March, April); in November it seems that the isolines are inclined to the meridians. It appears that there are only small differences (up to 3% in the winter-spring season and up to 1% in the summer season) between the long-term (1978-1993) monthly means of total ozone over the analyzed region. In extreme cases, it is possible that in a selected month of the period 1978-1993, especially during winter, the monthly mean of total ozone somewhere in the analyzed region could differ by more than ±5% of the reference total ozone value in this month. Several statistical characteristics are examined to find long-term evolution of the TOD over Poland. The seasonal and year-round "anthropogenic" component of the linear long-term changes in the monthly means of total ozone from the TOMS overpasses over Belsk are almost equal to those in the total ozone monthly means averaged over all grid cells in the analyzed region. For all grid cells, almost similar drift of total ozone towards lower values can be inferred. However, this drift seems to be accompanied by increasing total ozone difference between the east and west boundaries of the analyzed region, i.e., the ozone depletion along the west border is probably stronger than that along the east border.
