This volume contains the papers from Symposium on Geodynamics that took place in Jabłonna on 28-30 September 1983.
Statistical Models of the Seismic Hazard Analysis for Mining Tremors and Natural Earthquakes
Author(s): Dessokey M.
Volume: 174
Series: A-15
Volume: 174
Series: A-15
Seismic hazard and return periods are evaluated using four distribution models of the largest magnitudes of earthquakes: the first Gumbel, third Gumbel, triple exponential and Johnson distributions. The methods of least squares and maximum likelihood are used for estimating the parameters of the models.
Simple Waves and their Interactions in Quasilinear Hyperbolic Systems
Author(s): Grundland A., Żelazny R.
Volume: 162
Series: A-14
Volume: 162
Series: A-14
This volume presents a new method of construction of solutions for nonlinear and nonelliptic systems of partial differential equations and especially nonhomogeneous ones. A generalization of Riemann invariants method to the case of nonhomogeneous systems has been formulated.

Deformations of the Earth's crust, which often manifest themself in the form of earthquakes, are a result of complex physical and chemical processes taking place within the Earth. They probably also depend on thermodynamically conditions and subsequent changes in physical and chemical properties of the material: modului of elasticity, heat conductivity, magnetic properties, or hydro-gaso-dynamic components (Savarensky et. al., 1972).
